The moment that tech fans around the world have been waiting for is finally almost here, with the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) set to return on January 5. The event will be the first in-person, full capacity CES since 2020, due to the Covid pandemic. It takes place between January 5 and January 8, although most major announcements will take place during the two days before. 'CES 2023 will harness the power of human-to-human interaction to keep the innovation engine moving forward,' says Consumer Technology Association (CTA), organiser of the annual event. Elon Musk tweets render of Las Vegas loop station where Tesla's will cart passengers underground

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Elon Musk released the first ever renders of the Boring Company's Las Vegas loop station, where passengers will carted away by high-speed autonomous Teslas. The render depicts a hub for future passengers of the Boring Company's underground loop which aims to zip people from one end of the Las Vegas Convention Center to the other. It shows what appears to be a fairly modern, bright, design with a centered escalator leading down to a floor staggered with a Tesla's driverless vehicles. Above is the first render of the station where passengers will board Tesla's driverless cars to travel across the Las Vegas Convention Center at high speeds The image shows Tesla's Model 3 electric vehicles which are one of the vehicles the company plans to use for carting passengers between locations. Above the tunnels is a display showing passengers when and where their vehicles will depart and, for color, a sprawling wall ad for Las Vegas tourism sporting the city's'What happens in Vegas, only happens here' slogan.

The 'teleportation' mirror that lets a virtual passenger ride along with you in self-driving cars

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Revolutionary new virtual reality technology could let anyone ride along with you as a virtual passenger. Called Voyage XR, it's expected to have a range of applications, from training truck drivers to letting parents keep an eye on teen drivers while they're on the road. And it could even enable far-flung, elderly relatives to ride along with family members from any corner of the globe. Valeo debuted Voyage XR at the Consumer Electronics Show last week, which it claims'brings teleportation to life.' The Paris-based automotive supplier set up shop at CES with demos of Voyage XR, along with an eye-catching self-driving car test track across from the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Revved up for the best automotive tech at CES 2019

USATODAY - Tech Top Stories

Some of the world's biggest car makers debuted future technology at the annual Las Vegas show. Between all the connected home tech, giant 8K TVs and robots, the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show didn't let down automotive enthusiasts. Many of the world's biggest car makers exhibited at the annual mecca to Las Vegas, which serves as a glimpse into the future of technology, by dominating much of the North Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center, as well as surrounding facilities. And it didn't seem to matter the Sin City event falls just a week before the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The following is just a small sampling of some amazing automotive tech coming down the road -- pun intended -- most of which debuted at CES. Seen at CES: New features added to Toyota's next-gen Guardian autonomous technology.

CES Unveiled: TVs take a backseat in the first sneak peek at 2019 tech

Daily Mail - Science & tech

The CES 2019 gadget show is revving up in Las Vegas, bringing the latest in consumer technology from all around the world. So far this year, the show floor appears less dominated by TVs and is leaning more toward the overall smart home, with everything from high-tech beauty devices to smart showers and aroma systems. A slew of adorable home robots were also on display, with many geared toward introducing children to STEM concepts early on. Codi an AI enabled toy robot from Pillar Learning is seen at CES Unveiled 2019 at the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino in Las Vegas, Nev., on Sunday January 6, 2019 Much like last year, sales in smart devices are expected to grow in 2019; so far, the Consumer Technology Association predicts nearly 37 million Amazon Echoes, Google Homes and other smart speakers will be sold this year in the U.S.. This marks a 5 percent increase from a year ago.

14 questions CES 2019 needs to answer

#artificialintelligence

CES 2019 will be my 16th consecutive jaunt to Las Vegas to see the latest and greatest that the consumer electronics industry has to offer. So I'm extremely confident in predicting that we'll see plenty of the following: Those, of course, are the table stakes -- the same trends that have been on display for the past three, five or even 10 years of the world's biggest electronics show. To that end, these are the biggest questions we have going into the show -- the answers to which will set the tone for the rest of 2019. Qualcomm showed off a 5G phone prototype in Hawaii last month. There is little doubt that 5G -- the next-generation wireless standard that promises hyperfast speeds with almost no latency -- is the key game-changing technology for 2019.

There's a new customizable sex robot "Solana" -

It's been just short of a year since I locked eyes with Harmony, RealDoll's first sex robot, at her home in Southern California. It was an arresting experience that has remained cemented in memory. In that moment, I suddenly understood the uncanny valley, a theory posited by roboticist Masahiro Mori, nearly half a century prior. It attempts to explain the feeling of revulsion and eeriness that human onlookers experience when they encounter an artificial life-form that appears nearly, but not quite human. Today, she's ventured out of the dimly lit R&D room at Abyss Creations to meet me at CES.

The Morning After: Thursday, January 11th 2018

CES 2018 day two was interrupted by a two-hour power cut. It was as ridiculous as you'd imagine: The world's biggest tech show meets a severe lack of electricity. Rest assured, we had time on either side to delve deeper into this year's biggest incoming tech. Possibly the worst thing that could happen at a tech show: Power went down across several halls at the Las Vegas Convention Center during this morning's CES at 11:15 PT. Multiple booths suffered power outages, including swaths of TVs at LG.

Futuristic cars, smart cities, immersive displays at CES

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Wednesday marked the second official day of the Consumer Electronics Show - and with it brought an incredible look at the future of data, city life, and autonomous cars. Firms including Nissan and Toyota displayed stunning concept cars, while visitors of Intel's exhibit were given a chance to walk through an interactive '5G tunnel.' The day wasn't entirely without setbacks; around 11 a.m., the Las Vegas Convention Center's Central Hall experienced a major blackout, leaving big-name brands and thousands of attendees in total darkness. After about two hours, however, the lights came back on and the show was up and running once again. Once exhibitors were able to get the lights back on, stunning displays were once again back in action.
